+ Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This newly created position will play a critical role in the development and maintenance of organization-wide budgets and forecasts, as well as grant awards. This is a critical, cross-functional role within MxD. The successful candidate must be able to work efficiently and effectively with internal and external partners, while managing multiple workflows simultaneously. The ideal candidate is curious, energetic, resourceful, innovative, and likes to solve problems. This position reports to the FP&A Manager and currently does not have direct reports. This is a hybrid position located in Chicago, Illinois.

This is a critical, cross-functional role within MxD. The successful candidate must be able to work efficiently and effectively with internal and external partners, while managing multiple workflows simultaneously.

+ Position Responsibilities

  • Support development of overall organization annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
  • Work collaboratively with budget owners to develop and update department budgets.
  • Provide analytical analysis, forecasting, and reporting to senior management.
  • Build and manage financial databases and reports by organizing and analyzing a wide range of data sources.
  • Work with project and program managers to develop and maintain accurate grant budgets, required reports, and forecasts.
  • Monitor grant spending and compliance.
  • Prepare periodic reports with key metrics, financial results, and variance reporting.
  • Work with the FP&A Manager to create financial models to analyze data and assist in decision-making.
  • Review cost analysis on subrecipient project proposals.
  • Interpret and effectively communicate financial results, data, and trends to senior management.
  • Assist with financial statements and regulatory audits.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as requested.

+ Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field; MBA, CPA or CMA a plus
  • At least 4 years of experience in a financial analysis role or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of financial modeling
  • Ability to interpret and effectively communicate financial information
  • Proactive self-starter with a strong work ethic and integrity
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in fast-paced environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Non-profit experience, preferred
  • Familiarity with government regulations, preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite: primarily Excel and Access
