Director, Cybersecurity Projects

MxDís Director, Cybersecurity Projects will work with a diverse set of industry, government, and academic stakeholders to launch and lead a unique initiative within MxD designed to transform cybersecurity across the industrial base. The ideal candidate is highly entrepreneurial and has a desire to use their expertise, network, and passion to align government and private efforts to advance manufacturing cybersecurity. Additionally, the Director will oversee internal cybersecurity implementation in the organizationís business and manufacturing operations.

  1. Director will leverage MxDís existing assets, including a supportive consortium of industry and academic partners and a unique manufacturing lab floor environment, to establish MxD as a leader in cybersecurity projects and solutions for Americaís manufacturers. They will be responsible for external thought leadership regarding the complex security architectures necessary for digital manufacturing environments. A strong understanding of the network costs and integration issues that may arise during the development, deployment, and integration of manufacturing assets, software, and data systems is required. Equally important is an understanding of, and an ability to communicate and develop relationships with important stakeholders in the cybersecurity ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

-Create and execute a roadmap for national manufacturing cybersecurity that integrates and harmonizes the existing and future efforts occurring across the ecosystem

-Develop and implement a strategy for cybersecurity practices and architectures for manufacturers across enterprise systems and the operational technology manufacturing environment including supply chain

-Provide thought leadership on cybersecurity in manufacturing through regular public presentations

-Create content to motivate the manufacturing base to adopt increasing cybersecurity measures

-Lead a cybersecurity technical taskforce comprised of various MxD stakeholders to recommend future cybersecurity R&D efforts and identify and pilot various cybersecurity technologies

-Build a comprehensive cybersecurity program that provides actionable, hands-on training designed to improve the cybersecurity posture of U.S. manufacturers.

-Work with members and government partners to coordinate cybersecurity efforts and identify gaps to fill

-Responsible for creating and executing cybersecurity education and awareness programs within the organization

Position Requirements

-Successful candidate will be a leader, builder, and doer with an entrepreneurial mindset and the soft skills

required to build a coalition of partner organizations

-10+ years of experience working with enterprise and manufacturing cybersecurity systems including the development and deployment of policies, standards and procedures

-Strong understanding of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications 800-53 and 800-171 cybersecurity requirements as well as familiarity of other standards such as ISA99, Industrial Automation and Control Systems Security is preferred

-Deep expertise in both IT and OT (including Industrial Control and SCADA systems) cybersecurity practices and challenges

-Masterís Degree preferred; an educational focus in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, or a similar security-related subject, or a relevant technical, business, or engineering degree also preferred

-Both IT and OT technical certifications are such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, CSSA, or ICS-Cert are preferred

-Experience working with the Department of Defense and other government stakeholders is a plus
